Longue Hougue Landfill

In April 2006 States Works took over the operational responsibility for the Staff and equipment on the States landfill and recycling sites.

These sites comprise:

Longue Hougue Reclamation Site – Inert Builders Waste

Mont Cuet landfill Sire – Putrescible Waste

Chouet Horticultural Site – Garden and Horticultural Waste

Fontaine Vinery – Separation of Inert Builders Waste

Bulwer Avenue – Recycling Centre

The above sites are manned by up to 20 staff operating from 7.00 am until 4.30 pm weekdays. Weekend work also takes place but this varies from site to site depending on the requirements at the time.

The future of landfill and recycling is going through major changes, not just within the island but worldwide and it is our duty to ensure that whatever method we follow in the future we are in a position to provide competent well trained and fully equipped staff.
